Being 5th generation, the V1 combine Tannoys vast experience with some of the innovation and design taken from their higher end ranges, resulting in a speaker of outstanding performance and design.

Now having larger cabinets than the Mercury F1 custom the V1 are able to deliver dramatically deeper bass and together with a revised bracing these bookshelf speakers have a stiffer structure than before, resulting in a more dynamic and controlled attack. The Mercury V1 have a new pulp-fibre cone construction which is lighter and stiffer than previously used drivers, producing a more powerful sound with an articulate mid range and clean delivery. The re-worked tweeter gives impressive top end clarity and together with an overhaul of the crossover, using high purity silver plated wiring and enhanced DNT damping on the HF capacitors, all go to produce a pure clean sound.

The Tannoy Mercury V1 bookshelf speakers look impressive in either of the two finishes dark walnut or sugar maple and thanks to the superb styling and affordable price, the V range will be constantly challenging for top awards. The flush design of the speaker cones looks as clean as the Tannoy V1 sounds, and the rigid construction has the feel of a much more expensive speaker. At just 30cm tall, the Tannoy Mercury V1 maybe a small speaker but its size belies its performance.
