Terms and Conditions

1. General

  • 1.1. All use of the web site www.discounttv.co.uk (‘the Site’) is subject to these terms and conditions (‘the Terms”) below.


  • 1.2. If you do not agree to the Terms cease use of the Site immediately.


  • 1.3. You may print and keep a copy of the Terms. They are a legal agreement between us and can only be modified with our consent. We reserve the right to change the Terms at our discretion by changing them on the web site. Any changes will take effect on the day they are published on the Site.


  • 1.4. These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law.

2. Delivery

  • 2.1. All Discount Electical products, excluding some plasma sets and products designated 'in store only' are delivered to UK mainland addresses with the delivery charge incorporated into the price shown. Initial City Link delivers on our behalf between Mondays and Fridays inclusive, except Bank Holidays and other Holidays.


  • 2.2. All products that are in stock at the time of order will be dispatched via our specialist carrier as soon as is reasonably practicable. We will inform you of stock availability at the time of order.


  • 2.3. Saturday delivery can be arranged at an additional cost that is based on size and weight. Please contact customer service on 01282 864048 for a quote


  • 2.4 Should no one be available to accept delivery the carrier will leave a card with details of who to contact to re-arrange delivery. In this instance you should contact the telephone number on the card. If delivery is not rearranged with our carriers they may at their discretion return the item to us as undelivered. In this event we may charge you for the cost involved in a failed delivery, which will vary according to the type and weight of the item.


  • 2.5. All items must be signed for on delivery. By signing for the items on delivery you indicate that you have, where reasonably practicable, inspected the goods and their packaging and that they are in good condition. You must note any damage to packaging on the delivery note. Once delivered, we strongly recommend you check the goods for any damage, missing accessories, fault or incorrect product and report the matter immediately.


  • 2.6 If a product is delivered damaged and under clause 2.5 you have signed for the goods without indicating on the delivery note that there is damage, and not contacted us within 2 days of delivery, you will be deemed responsible and any expense or loss relating to the damage shall be at your own risk there after.


  • 2.7 We cannot be held responsible for any delay, loss, expense or cost whatsoever caused by delay in delivering any item. Delivery dates and times given are indicative only and shall not be of the essence.

3. Purchasing and Payment

  • 3.1. To place an order with us please us the online shopping facility or call us on 01282 864048 and speak to one of our sales staff to discuss your requirements.


  • 3.2. An order is only accepted by us when delivery is scheduled by our customer service team. We reserve the right not to accept an order for any reason, including but not limited to situations:


    • 3.2.1. where fraud is suspected


    • 3.2.2. where a pricing error has been made


    • 3.2.3. where a product is not likely to be available for the foreseeable future in the reasonable opinion of management


    • 3.2.4. where payment details cannot be satisfactorily verified


  • 3.3. We accept most major debit/credit cards with the exception of Electron, Solo and American Express. We are also pleased to accept payment by cheque or bank transfer. Cheques should be made payable to Discount Electrical and sent to:- 42-44 Albert Road, Colne, Lancashire BB8 0AD


  • 3.4 We reserve the right to seek full verification of a transaction from issuing banks where payment is proposed by debit or credit card. We may invite you to contact the issuing bank should there be a problem with card verification.


  • 3.5 In the event of an error in pricing we will contact you and give you the option to cancel the order. From time to time at the discretion of management an alternative offer may be made in these circumstances.


  • 3.6. It is our general policy not to take payment before the day of dispatch/collection of the order. From time to time however we may take a pre-agreed amount in advance in circumstances including but not limited to:


    • 3.6.1. As a deposit to secure items in short supply;


    • 3.5.2 To ensure clearance of funds before dispatch.


    • 3.5.3. Where a customer wishes to pay in full in advance.

4. After Sales Service

  • 4.1. All products supplied by Discount Electrical Sales are inclusive of a 1-year parts and labour guarantee (individual products may offer longer guarantee periods). In the event of a breakdown an authorised service agent can repair products. For a list of agents in your area contact the manufacturer, the telephone number of who is supplied with your instructions. In some cases you may need to pay a 'call out' charge. Alternatively please call customer services on 01282 864048.


  • 4.2. Should you have any problems with your product, you should first consult your instruction manual, supplied with your item, as 'faults' can sometimes be rectified without the need for a service call.

5. Return of Damaged items

  • 5.1 As stipulated in clause 2.5 in the event of a product being damaged when delivered, you must inform us within 2 days. We cannot accept any responsibility for items reported damaged after this time. Please either ring 01282-864048 or email us at sαles@discounttv.co.uk. Arrangements will then be made for the damaged item to be collected and a replacement to be delivered. You may be asked to outer wrap the damaged item to minimise the risk of any further damage. Please note that we do not exchange any item unless it is complete of all packaging and accessories.

6. Return of Faulty Items

  • 6.1. In the event of a product being faulty when delivered you can either call us on 01282-864048 or email us at customerservices@discounttv.co.uk when we will arrange for that item, which must also include all original packaging and accessories, to be collected and returned to ourselves.


  • 6.2. Once inspected by our qualified engineer and any fault found, we will arrange for a replacement to be dispatched as quickly as possible. You may also cancel the order and a refund will be given provided the product is returned with all original accessories and packaging.


  • 6.3. If there is no fault found then the item will be returned and you will be charged the cost of carriage. We reserve the right to charge a reasonable testing fee to cover the cost of inspection.

7. Return of items for repair

  • 7.1. If a product develops a fault and you wish us to undertake the repair then it is your responsibility to send it to us.


  • 7.2. It is recommended that you use a reputable carrier and ensure that there is adequate insurance to cover for any possible damage or loss. 


  • 7.3. Returning the product to us is at your own risk and you bear all expense involved.


  • 7.4. We will return the item to you by a method of our choice, at all times fully insured. The item remains our responsibility until signed for by you, at which point you assume all risk and responsibility for the item.

8. Cancellation Policy

  • 8.1. You have the right to cancel your order within seven working days from the date you receive your goods. Working days are Monday to Friday inclusive, excluding bank holidays and public holidays.


  • 8.2. You must notify us in writing that you wish to cancel the order either by letter, which should be addressed to Discount Electrical, 42-44 Albert Road, Colne, Lancashire, BB8 0AD, or facsimile on 01282-863823 or e-mail at sαles@@discounttv.co.uk.


  • 8.3. Entitlement to cancel the order is wholly dependant on the item being un-used and in a re-saleable condition. This must also include any and all accessories that should also be unopened and complete. The item must be returned without any marks or blemishes whatsoever. 


  • 8.4. It will be your responsibility to return the item, which should be outer- wrapped. You are also advised to use a reputable carrier and ensure sufficient insurance to cover the full cost of the goods whilst in transit.


  • 8.5. If the item is received by us damaged, incomplete or in any way misused you are no longer entitled to a full refund of the purchase price. We may at our discretion either:


    • 8.5.1. Make a reasonable partial refund based on the cost of restoring the product to new condition or;


    • 8.5.2. Return the product to you and recover our reasonable costs in sending it.

  • 8.6. If an item complying with clause 8.3 is returned a refund of the original purchase price will be made less the original shipping costs.


  • 8.7. If you wish to cancel an order that is already on its way to you but has not yet arrived you should contact us immediately for advice.

9. Specifications

  • 9.1. All products specifications, images, descriptions and other information communicated by us has been obtained from manufacturers, distributors, suppliers or is in the public domain. We make all reasonable endeavours to ensure the accuracy of this information however from time to time we may discover errors or inaccuracies or specifications may change during the life of a model. As such we cannot guarantee the accuracy of information communicated. If we discover such an error we will rectify it within a reasonable time, and take reasonable steps to inform you of any such error. We will give you the opportunity to cancel any undelivered orders.
